The cutting ratio of a gemstone determines whether light can be reflected within it, affecting its brightness, fire and visual appeal. So, how to determine whether the cutting ratio is excellent?
1. Countertop proportion
The countertop is too large and the gemstones lack sufficient brightness. If it is too small, it will appear that the gemstone is too small in size.
2. Waist thickness
A thick waistline can increase weight but not the visual effect. If it is too thin, it is prone to damage.
3. Angle of the pavilion
If the Angle is too shallow or too deep, the light will leak out, causing the gemstone to lose its luster. Professionally, you can refer to the GIA cutting grade, with "Excellent" being the highest standard. However, for daily judgment, one can observe whether the gemstone has a uniform fire and no obvious dark areas.
